1. Reaching Perfection is Back!

      written by Ray Benefield
Well it has been exactly three months since my last post. The last three months have been hectic. My best friend, Justin Hayes, died in May. After that I proceeded to finish my out processing from the US Air Force in June. Then when the month of July rolled around I moved across country from Alabama to Oregon. It has been a hectic past three months, but Reaching Perfection is back online and ready for Halo: Reach come September. What better day to start posting again than on the 1st of a month that is also a Sunday?

      Tribute to Justin Randall Hayes

Justin was one of my closest friends and co-workers while I lived in Alabama. We spent loads of time together hanging out and just having fun. He was a unique individual that didn't care what people thought about him and did what he felt was right. It was Justin who was going to help me start the gaming company that I have been working on for the past half a year. Now that he is gone I will continue to pursue the company and my dream of designing great games in his honor. Justin, you are missed more than you know. May we meet again one day...

      Into the Civilian Life

Well I have finished my four years that I dedicated to the Air Force. While it was quite the learning experience I look forward to the civilian life ahead of me. A life with less rules and standards, but also a life of flexibility, unpredictability, and a sense of adventure. I fully respect all of you who serve out there. Without you we would be nothing. So while I may not be in the military anymore; I fully support all of you who still are, once were, or will be. Thank you for your service.

      Cross Country

So the drive from Alabama to Oregon was a long one. We stopped by my parent's place in San Antonio and had a nice little get together with family friends as well as a wonderful family breakfast the following morning. Then we headed over to Colorado Springs to visit Manda's father. We leeched there for about a week before finally moving on to Oregon. And then we got here to Oregon, found a place that day, signed the rental agreement the next, and moved in that night. Everything went smoothly and we are grateful for that. All our stuff is moved in and our internet is properly setup and strangely my laptop decided to start working again. Looks like I'm going to enjoy this place more than I thought.

      Let the game begin

So the most monumental game of the decade is about to be released. If you are unaware that Halo: Reach releases next month, then I have no idea what to say to you. When Halo 3 came out I did not expect to be the level design icon that I became so I was not prepared for what became of me. With Reach on the horizon, I am prepared to show you and the world what I have in store. I see it as my duty to teach all that I can about game and level design while providing YOU with the best gametypes and maps that Reach has to offer. Keep a close look out over the next 43 days until Reach comes out because I will be preparing you for this great release with dozens of level design theory articles, gametype previews, map previews, and site changes. The next month and a half is going to be quite the wait... so you might as well read Reaching Perfection. Right? Oh and share it with your friends too. ;) It's good to be back peepz...

You'd better not be making ALL the best gametypes it has to offer.

Lol I can leave the crazy mini games to you, but I can guarantee that a lot of the standard gametypes that don't require maps will be done within the first few hours that I have the game. ;)
